There will be no school on Monday, November 11th, and all district offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Thank you to all who have served and sacrificed.

At 9:00 a.m. today, all schools and the District Office will participate in The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill. We are hosting a comprehensive real-world scenario that may take some time to complete to ensure our campuses are prepared in the event of a real earthquake.
We apologize for any delay in answering your calls or emails during this time and appreciate your patience and understanding. An additional message will be delivered when the drill is complete. Please contact your child's school if you have any questions or concerns.
Note: The 5th grade field trip will not be affected by this.

On October 8th, the Board of Education recognized the District's Payroll Team in honor of National Payroll Professionals Week, celebrated from September 2 to September 6. The special week celebrates the joyful "we just got paid" feeling that comes from payroll professionals' hard work each month to ensure timely and accurate payments to an organization's employees.

On October 8th, the Board of Education recognized the District's Human Resources Department in honor of Human Resources Professionals Day, celebrated on September 26th. These professionals are skilled in handling difficult and important situations in the world of personnel. Whether it's following complex labor laws, complying with union bargaining agreements, working with employees who need to go on leave, or hiring to meet the various personnel needs of an organization, Human Resources professionals are the can-do people who know how to support an organization's team of employees.

On October 8th, the Board of Education recognized Special Education Paraprofessional Antonio "Mr. Tony" Salvador for making a difference in the lives of numerous students through his love for chess. Mr. Salvador took the initiative to create the Yucaipa-Calimesa Youth Chess Federation at Dunlap Elementary last school year. He grew the program even more while working at different summer school sites. Using his own money and newfound love for the program, Mr. Salvador had custom trophies made for his students' first tournament. Moving forward, he has requested to grow the program across the District, and we look forward to supporting him in doing so.

YCJUSD Families and Team,
ALL SCHOOLS, OFFICES, AND FACILITIES WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW, OCTOBER 2, 2024. Depending on morning weather conditions, certain schools may be under an inclement weather warning, which would keep students indoors to the greatest extent possible. Our Maintenance, Safety, and Risk Coordinator will monitor the air quality and temperature throughout the day and notify affected schools as needed. These notifications include policy advisories to keep our students and employees safe as weather conditions change throughout the day.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support over the last few days. We understand it has been a challenging time, and we look forward to seeing you and your children back at school or work tomorrow!
Sincerely,
The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District Emergency Operations Team

YCJUSD Families and Team,

The Valley PTA hosted the inaugural Million Father March at Valley Elementary School this morning. All we can say is, WOW! What tremendous support from our Viking families and dads who came and spent the morning with our Valley Leaders. They started off the day with a walk down the red carpet, a delicious breakfast in the cafeteria, and then finished with a heartwarming speech from Principal Rekstad thanking the father figures present.
Thank you to the Valley PTA for such a wonderful idea, to the Valley Team for making it happen, and to our Valley families who came and showed support for their children! #ValleyLeadersRock!
