Student Teachers & Interns

If you are interested in student teaching or field work as an intern in our district, please have your University/College Advisor, Placement Coordinator, School Psychologist, Behavioral Health Counselor, or Speech-Language Pathologist contact Amber Emon in Human Resources for placement information. Please note, all placements MUST be pre-approved in advanced by HR before any student teaching, observations*, or field work may begin. This includes placements for:  

  • General Education Teaching Credential 

  • Special Education Teaching Credential 

  • School Psychology 

  • School Counseling 

  • Speech-Language Pathologist 

  • Behavioral Health Counselors

  • District/School Nurses 

* Individuals seeking observation hours where the total number of needed hours is 99 hours or less may contact site principals directly to get their approval for any observations.

Before reaching out, please keep in mind the following:  

  • Placements will likely not be at the same site where a person's own children attend. 

  • Placements will likely not be at the same site where a person's own family members work. 

  • Current YCJUSD employees must request a leave of absence from HR before starting a placement.

  • Placement candidates need to provide a placement letter from their university or program to verify their participation.

  • A University Agreement (MOU) is required between the university and YCJUSD. If we do not have an active MOU on file, it can delay the onboarding process.

  • Placement candidates will be required to complete our onboarding process before they can begin their placement. Items include:  

    • Live Scan (fingerprint clearance) 

    • Completion of HR paperwork (onboarding packet) 

    • Online trainings 

    • Badge Pick-Up
