New Volunteer Requirements for 2026

At the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our students. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our schools—whether you are helping in a classroom, coaching a team, or chaperoning a field trip, your presence makes a difference in the lives of our students.

We are updating our volunteer protocols as required by law (Senate Bill 848 and Assembly Bill 506). Starting on July 1, 2026, all volunteers are required to complete a brief Mandated Reporter training.

How to be Ready to Volunteer

To volunteer or attend a field trip this year, please ensure you have completed the following:

  • Mandated Reporter Training: Complete the same free, online-based training our employees receive every year.  Please click here to access the training application, which will be assigned to you from our Human Resources Department and delivered to your email account. Once you have completed your training application, you will receive an email containing the training module and volunteer application link in Raptor Technologies (the same program schools use to scan IDs for visitors). Once the training is complete, please upload your certificate to the Raptor Technologies application.  Someone will view and approve your application within 48 hours, and you will be ready to volunteer!

  • Already completed mandated reporter training this year? If you have completed the training within the last 12 months, you do not need to complete our training and may begin your volunteer application in Raptor Technologies, linked here (Spanish).  Accepted certificates include those from the California Department of Social Services, which can be found here.

Why Is This New Training Required?

This update focuses not just on reporting, but on prevention. This training empowers our volunteers to recognize "grooming" behaviors and understand the professional boundaries required to keep both students and adults safe.
