Mike Snellings

The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District is pleased to announce the return of Mike Snellings to the Board of Education following Sharon Bannister’s resignation in January 2026.  Member Snellings, who previously served on the Board from X to X, was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation in Trustee Area 4.

As a retired assistant superintendent and familiar face in the Yucaipa and Calimesa communities, Member Snellings brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to student achievement.  During his previous tenure, Member Snellings served as Board President, guiding the District through COVID and numerous facility upgrades and curriculum adoptions, always keeping the success and wellness of the District's students at the forefront of every decision.

When asked how his perspective has changed since last serving on the Board, Member Snellings shared, “Coming back to the board has reignited and reaffirmed my commitment to the students and employees of the Yucaipa-Calimesa school community. I am looking forward to working with the new Board members and the veteran Board members as we make decisions that are in the best interest of the District. I’m at a point now where my Board and work experience serves me well and has prepared me to tackle whatever challenges come our way. I’m excited because I can, and have hit the ground running.”

Superintendent Cali Binks expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment, noting the value of having an experienced leader join the dais. “We are so fortunate to welcome Member Mike Snellings back to the Board.  His historical knowledge of the District and education overall will be an invaluable asset as we continue to make a difference in the life of each child.”

The addition of Member Snellings to the Board restores its full five-member capacity.
