The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District Board of Education has chosen Kim Pham as its new student board advisor. Pham is a junior at Yucaipa High School and is actively involved in many campus activities, continuously seen supporting community events. She has been a part of the student council since sixth grade.
Pham has brought diversity, inclusivity, and enjoyment to students at Yucaipa High as president of the Hands with Paws club, which she created her freshman year to help volunteer at YAPS. She is also vice-chair and secretary of the Yucaipa Youth Advisory Committee.
Not only is Pham involved in many extracurricular activities, but she also excels in school, with an impressive 4.7 GPA. When asked why she wanted the position, she said, “I desired to find a way where I could directly contribute to the learning experience of students all across the district. I want to ensure that all students receive the best education experience possible.”
Pham added that she hopes to create a more inclusive learning community, where all voices are heard. Her new duties will include attending board meetings for the next school year and serving as a voice for all schools in the district to bring them the resources they need.
