INTRA DISTRICT TRANSFER

Intra-District Transfers requests are for students who live within the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District boundaries but would like to attend another school within YCJUSD, other than their school of residence (known as a "home school").

TIMELINE

  • New Intra-District Transfer Applications: The deadline to submit new Intra-District Transfer Applications is February 29, 2024

  • Parents/Guardians will be notified by letter if their student has been approved, denied, or placed on a waiting list no later than the last day of March.

  • Intradistrict transfers will be considered in accordance with YCJUSD Administartive Regulation 5116.1. After February 28, 2023, we will continue to accept Intra-District Transfer Applications (for those students who reside within the YCJUSD boundaries but wish to attend a school other than their school of residence) and place them on a waiting list in the order in which they are received.           INTER DISTRICT TRANSFER

INTER DISTRICT TRANSFER

Inter-district transfer requests are for students who live within the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District boundaries but would like to attend school in another District.

For an interdistrict transfer request received by the district 15 or fewer calendar days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received.

For an interdistrict transfer request received by the district more than 15 days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the interdistrict transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which transfer is sought.

It is preferred that a current copy of your student's discipline history and attendance be submitted along with the application to expedite the process.  Individual inter-district attendance permits may be denied, rescinded, or revoked due to unsatisfactory citizenship, or poor attendance. Applications will be reviewed and accepted based on space availability per the California Education Code.  There is no guarantee of enrollment to a specific school site, only to the District if the application is accepted.

Failure of a parent/guardian to meet the established timeline for interdistrict transfer applications established by the district shall be deemed an abandonment of the request. The process and timeline by which a denial of a request may be appealed can be found by clicking on "Interdistrict Appeal Timeline" on this page.

Outgoing inter-district transfer requests may only be considered for reasons stated in Board Policy 5117 and Administrative Regulation 5117. YCJUSD will render a decision on each inter-district application within thirty days. Administrative Regulation 5117 explains the process for appealing a decision on an inter-district application. Failure to meet any timelines established in the application or appeals process shall be deemed an abandonment of the application or appeal.

***Please note that YCJUSD will be limiting the number of pupils transferring out to 3% of the total enrollment per CA Education Code 48307; therefore all applications will be time/date stamped and be thoroughly verified according to the above policy.***

Incoming Inter-District transfers must first be approved by the student's district of residence prior to submitting the request to YCJUSD.  Please submit the approved application (obtained at the student's district of residence) to the YCJUSD District Office receptionist. Please allow a sufficient amount of time for this process to occur.

For students applying for enrollment into any of Yucaipa High School’s Linked Learning Academies, applications must be received in the YCJUSD Educational Services office no later than April 12, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
